How do we work with you?
Many clients ask us how we proceed after the quote has been accepted. Please find below a guide to what happens after the work is signed off and we're ready to begin:
If you require natural language copywriting (non-optimised):
Steps to completion:1. Research
We begin the research on the articles or pages you require. This may involve one or more of the following methods: telephone interviews, reading your company literature and website, plus other printed material and internet sources, researching your competition. Very rarely do we need to visit you at your site. In special cases, such as with government organisations or if the project is very large, we may need to have regular meetings in order to update the team, but this is not common practice for most clients.
2. First Draft
We send you a first draft of the pages or articles piecemeal, as we do them (we don’t send the entire lot after they’re all finished as this can extend editing and proofing times).
3. Edits
After you’ve read each page, if you require any changes or modifications, you send them back to us for the edits (or you can make the revisions yourself and we can check it all flows together afterwards – proofread it).
4. Final Draft
We present you with a final draft of the copy and our invoice (occasionally, we may have invoiced you half the total sum upfront, with the remaining half due on completion of the work).
All the above steps are already included in the quote agreed with you beforehand.
If you require search engine optimised copywriting (SEO copy) with keywords:
Steps to completion:1. Keyword Research
We begin research on the keywords and keyphrases you may wish to target in the copy. After interrogating the top three search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN) with specialist software, we’re able to present you with a list of the most competitive keywords in your sector. From this you can see how many searches are undertaken each day for certain keywords and phrases, giving you a clear picture of what your customers are looking for. This in turn might inform the topics you wish us to write about.
2. Content Research
Having narrowed down the list of keywords you want to include in the copy for each page, we begin the research for the content. This may involve one or more of the following methods: telephone interviews, reading your company literature and website, researching your competition. Very rarely do we need to visit you at your site. In special cases, such as with government organisation, or if the project is very large, we may need to have regular meetings in order to update the team, but we usually find this is not necessary.
3. First Draft
We send you a first draft of the pages or articles piecemeal, as we do them (we don’t send the entire lot after they’re all finished as this can extend editing and proofing times). If there are a lot of keyphrases or the work is long, we may send you one copy of the text without any keyphrases marked, and a second copy showing the occurrences of each keyword highlighted in yellow. If any alterations are needed to the content it’s important to keep these intact as they’re what will help to bring in your targeted customers.
4. Edits
After you’ve read each page, if you require any changes or modifications, you send them back to us for the edits (or you can make some revisions yourself and we can check it all flows together – proofread it afterwards).
5. Final Draft
We present you with a final draft of the copy and our invoice (occasionally, we may have invoiced you half the total sum upfront, with the remaining half due on completion of the work).
All the above steps are already included in the quote agreed with you beforehand.
